Greetings...
"But God will REDEEM my soul from the power of the grave...for He shall RECEIVE me. Selah." (Psalm 49:15)
I like the idea of my soul (my mind...my will...my emotions...the totality of who I am)...being redeemed...bought...traded...substituted...with the cause and effect that the grave has no power over me. (Read I Corinthians 15 for the power of the RISEN Christ...our hope...and the last enemy destroyed...with final victory....with death being swallowed up).
The grave should have power over me...but IT DOES NOT. Why? Propitiation. I have been bought with a price...the blood of Jesus. Death, Burial, and Resurrection...sealed the power of the grave over me. The critical key is that He RECEIVED me...because I RECEIVED Him. I had the POWER to RECEIVE Him...so He could...would...RECEIVE ME.
"But as many as RECEIVED Him...to them He gave the RIGHT to become children of God...to those who believe in His name." (John 1:12)
Hmmm...I'm noticing a lot of R's....redeem...receive...right....Rodney (sorry).
"He paid a debt He did not owe...I owed a debt I could not pay...I needed someone to wash my sins away. And now I sing a brand new song...Amazing Grace how sweet the sound...Christ Jesus paid a debt that I could never pay." (He Paid A Debt)

PSALM 48 GREAT IS THE LORD
Greetings...
"Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised, in the city of our God in His holy mountain... beautiful in elevation/situation...the joy of the whole earth...is Mount Zion on the sides of the north...The city of the great King." (Psalm 48:1-2)
In the 70's...sitting in a small circle or standing in front of a few hundred people...I would lead people in praise and worship...singing this Psalm (or at least a few verses from it. I played it in the key of D.
It started off with a statement of fact:
"Great is the Lord". That statement enough is a declaration, a confession, an encouragement, and an authoritative statement to put the devil (little d) on notice.
"And greatly to be praised": A GREAT God...deserves GREAT praise. Sometimes I praise Him like He ain't that great. "Mediocre is the Lord...and in a mediocre way to be praised." NOTE: This would be like...clapping your hands to the Lord and then just kind of pitty pat to the Lord.
"In the city of our God": The dwelling place for our God...where we desire to be. This is the place we speak of when we pray..."Our Father...who art in Heaven..."
"In His holy mountain (mountain of His Holiness).": It ain't the mountain that makes it self holy...it's the Holy God who makes it Holy...because wherever He is...it is "Holy Ground".
"Beautiful in elevation (beautiful for situation)": When you dwell in "heavenly places"...you are positioned...elevated...situated to have a God's Eyed View...of events in your life below on planet earth.
"The joy of the whole earth.": Joy is the hallmark of earth...when the Lord is the Lord and the Kingdom is established throughout the earth. Joy means delight. As we delight ourselves in the Lord...He will give us the desires of our hearts. (Psalm 37:4)
"Is Mount Zion on the sides of the north.": The city of Zion...the center of Jewish worship...and later a type/picture of the New Testament church...was located in the north (northeastern)part of Mt. Zion. (Thanx and a Tip O Da Hat to The Spirit Filled Life Bible)
"The city of the great King.": The King...the kingdom...the city. The great King...makes a great city.
NOTE: When we sang verses 1-2...we would then go into a little chorus..."How great is or God... how great is His name...How great is our God...forever the same...He rolled back the waters...of the might Red Sea...and He said I'd never leave you...put your trust in Me."
The second verse (that we later learned)...was from verse 10-11..."According to you name...O God so is Thy praise...unto the ends of the earth...Your right hand is full of righteousness... let Mount Zion rejoice...let the daughters of Judah be glad..." We then go back into the chorus..."How great is our God...."
Well...if you want to be in a good position...to have a God's eye view...may I suggest...the mountain top.

PSALM 47 You Make We Wanna SHOUT
Greetings
"Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph!" (Psalm 47:1)
QUESTION: What does the Isley Brothers, Jimmy and Carol Owens, Pat Boone, Barry McGuire, and The Second Chapter of Acts all have in common?
ANSWER: Psalm 47:1
Back in the 70's...Jimmy and Carol Owens wrote a musical called IF MY PEOPLE based on
II Chronicles 7:14..."If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." I went to a concert to hear this project...and Pat Boone, Barry McGuire and The Second Chapter of Acts were all there to sing along with a very large collective choir. The Isley Brothers...who were not on the record or at the concert have a connection...by their hit in the 50's called SHOUT (You make me wanna shout...).
The Psalmist starts off with encouragement to have movement and sound (1) Clap your hands (2) Shout to God (with a voice of triumph).
The question is WHY? Well...here are just a few reason to clap and shout:
1. The Lord Most High is awesome
2. He is a great King over all the earth
3. He will subdue the peoples under us
4. he will subdue the nations under our feet
5. He will choose our inheritance for us
6. God has gone up with a SHOUT
7. The Lord has gone up with the SOUND of a trumpet
We are called to:
1. Sing praises to God
2. Sing praises
3. Sing praises to our King
4. Sing praises
5. Sing praises with understanding
NOTE: You get the idea that this relationship with the Lord is LOUD and ACTIVE.
Why sing praises? when the princes of the people have gathered together...the people of the God of Abraham have gathered to gather. Why?
1. For God is the King of all the earth
2. God reigns over the nations
3. The shields of the earth belong to God
4. He is greatly exalted
Well...if this is NOT enough to CLAP your hands and SHOUT to God...then...I don't know what is.
NOTE: If you are going to CLAP YOUR HANDS...then don't just pitty-pat...CLAP. If you are going to SHOUT to God...crank it up to 10 (amplifier reference).

PSALM 46 PRESENT TROUBLE...PRESENT HELP (Holy Ghost Power)
Greetings...
"God is our REFUGE and STRENGTH. A VERY PRESENT HELP in trouble." (Psalm 46:1)
I don't know if you have ever been in trouble...but you feel uncoverd, weak, and no help to be found.
TROUBLE: tsarah (tsaw-raw)= (1) tightness (2) adversary (3) adversity (4) affliction
(5) anguish (6) distress (7) tribulation (8) trouble
When you are in TROUBLE...the way that you can take refuge and renew your strength...
"Be STILL and KNOW that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" (Psalm 46:10)
When you are in TROUBLE...there is a RIVER. For the believer...there is a river. As the song says..."There is a river...that flows from deep within...there is a fountain that frees the soul from sin...come to the waters...there is a vast supply...there is a river...that never shall run dry." (There Is A River)
"On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who beleives in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow RIVERS OF LIVING WATER. But this He spoke concerning THE SPIRIT, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the HOLY SPIRIT was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified." (John 7:37-39)
Well....Jesus IS glorified NOW...and is available for witnessing power.
"But you shall receive POWER when the HOLY SPIRIT has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
(Acts 1:8)
When you are IN TROUBLE...let the HOLY SPIRIT...IN YOU...be your refuge, strength, and help.

PSALM 45:1 LET IT FLOW MY LOVE (Wedding Bells)
Greetings...
"My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready..skillful...writer." (Psalm 45:1)
Here we go with another one by the sons of Korah..to the chief Musician...set to The Lillies (Shoshannim). It is a song of love...about the Glories of the Messiah and His Bride. Wow..now that is a lot of words at the top of the Psalm in my Bible.
What we have is a description of the union of a King...and the soon to be Queen. Be sure to read this Psalm for the full descriptive effects of this union.
The Bridegroom...the Messiah...the Anointed One...points through the time-space continuum to The Christ...the Anointed One...the Saviour...JESUS. We see the writer of Hebrews using Psalm 45:6-7 as a quote as he describes JESUS...
"Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter/a ruler's staff of righteousness is the scepter/ruler's staff of Your Kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore GOD...Your GOD has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions." (Hebrews 1:8-9; Isaiah 61:1-3)
"In the beginning was the Word/Jesus...and the Word/Jesus was with God...and the Word/Jesus was God..." (John 1:1)
As the Psalmist paints the picture of the King...the Messiah...the Anointed One...we see the link between Jesus and God...they are ONE.
When you combine writings like this one...with the Song of Songs (the Song of Solomon) and various passages like Ephesians 5:22-32...that speaks of a GREAT MYSTERY...that has been revealed to us...that of the joining of Christ and the church...the Groom and the Bride... the Gentiles and Jews in union with the Messiah/Christ...you have a wedding portrait that is in the gallery of the World to be viewed by whosoever.
Welcome to the Wedding...let the love flow.

PSALM 44:1-3 THE DAYS OF OLD FAVOR
Greetings,
"We have heard with our ears O God...Our fathers told us...the deeds You did in their days...in the days of old: You drove out the nations/Gentiles/heathens with Your hand...but them You planted: You afflicted the peoples, and cast them out. For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword...nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand...Your arm...and the light of your countenance...because you favored them. (Psalm 43:1-3)
Well...enter the sons of Korah...with a Psalm to the Chief Musician. The Psalm is written in PRESENT dishonor...with an eye to the PAST. When they look to "the fathers"...who have past on the stories of glory...the things that God did in their days (aka The Days of Old)...it gives them hope of deliverance. It affects the way they persevere in prayer and continue to as for help from the same God that delivered them. "Arise for our HELP...and REDEEM us for Your MERCIES SAKE." (Psalm 43:26)
Sometimes when we are surrounded by nations/Gentiles/heathens...who are being afflicted and cast out...maybe we need to look back and see how God manifested Himself in their lives. The battles are not won by (1) their/our own sword (2) their/our won arm. The battles and victories and possessions of our spiritual land are won by:
PSALM 43:3
1. His right hand
2. His arm
3. His lighted countenance
4. His favor
Here is a declaration to SELAH:
"You are my King, O God; command victories for Jacob. Through YOU we will push down our enemies; through YOUR NAME we will trample those who rise up against us. For I will NOT trust in my bow, nor shall my sword save me. But YOU have saved us from our enemies, and have put to shame those who hate us. In GOD we boast all day long, and praise YOUR NAME forever...SELAH. (Psalm 43:4-8)

PSALM 43:8 CONVERSATION WITH THE SOUL (Despair and Disturbance Solutions)
Greetings...
"Why are you in despair...O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God." (Psalm 43:8)
Have you ever been driving down the road...talking to yourself? Do you catch yourself doing it... and then look around to make sure nobody saw you talking to yourself...because that would be considered CRAZY!?! Unless....your soul needs talkin' to.
In Psalm 103...we see the Psalmist soul talking again when he say..."Bless the Lord...O my soul...and all that is within me...bless His Holy name." (Psalm 103:1) In essence the Psalmist is saying...soul...bless the Lord. The soul...of man is called the nephesh...the seat of our emotions and who we are. Of course I Thessalonians 5:23 breaks us down a little further as (1) spirit
(2) soul (3) body. The soul...our mind (what we think), our volition/free will (what we choose) and our emotions (indicator of what we think and choose)...need reminding of who God is... because if we don't...we will just accept whatever bad comes down our path.
The Psalmist is asking questions and then tell the soul what it needs to be doing as an ungodly nation, deceitful and unjust men, and enemies are coming against him.
QUESTION: Soul...why are you in despair?
QUESTION: Soul...why are you disturbed within me?
ANSWER: Soul...HOPE (confident expectation) in God.
SOUL DECLARATION: Soul...I shall (volition) praise Him (the help of my countenance and my God) again.
The next time your mind begins reasoning about sin and walking in the flesh...or begins screaming out thoughts of doubt, fear, unbelief, worry, anxiety, despair, disturbance...have little talk with him... and point him in the right direction...the Lord. As the song goes..."have a little talk with Jesus and make it right..."...and after your little talk with Jesus...have a little talk with your soul...about what Jesus says.

PSALM 41:2,5,11 ENEMY MODUS OPERANDI
Greetings...
"...You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies...my enemies speak evil of me...because my enemy does not triumph over me." (Psalm 41:2,5,11)
Well...we are at the end of the 1st book of the Sepher Tehillim...Psalmoi...Psalterion (a poem that is to be accompanied by a stringed instrument). There are 5 sections (5 books within the book OF 150 songs). Psalm 41 concludes Book 1 with a song of blessing and suffering of the godly. David laments about his sin (maybe with Bathsheba)...his health as a result of the sin...
the surrounding enemy in his weakened condition...and the declaration of God dealing with the enemy.
"We have met the enemy...and he is us." (Walt Kelly...from the cartoon Pogo)
ENEMY MODUS OPERANDI (M.O.)
1. Speaks evil of you
2. Speaks lies
3. His heart gathers iniquity to itself (about you)
4. He tells it when he goes out
5. Hates you
6. Whispers together against you
7. He devises your hurt
8. Says and evil disease clings to you (as a result of your sin)
9. Will say when you lay down you will not rise up
10.Even familiar, trusted friends who ate with you...will lift up their heel against you
Of course the Psalmist is praying for blessing...which would have God deal with his ENEMIES.
Before God can deal with your enemies...we have to deal with the ENEMY WITHIN...by turning to God for mercy...and acknowledgment of who you have sinned against. "I said, Lord, be merciful to me, heal my soul, for I HAVE SINNED AGAINST YOU." (Psalm 41:4; Psalm 32;
Psalm 51)
The Psalm ends...and the 1st book/section of The Psalms ends with a closing doxology...
"Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen."
(Psalm 41:13)
AMEN= true and faithful...truly...so be it.
NOTE: If you have read this please let me know by either writing on facebook or emailing me at ruminator12@comcast.net I am curious to how many actually read this blog.

PSALM 39:4-6 FRAIL MAN OF VAPORS AND SHADOWS
Greetings...
"Lord, make me to know my end, and what is the measure of my days, that I may know how frail I am. Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths , and my age is as nothing before You; certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Selah. Surely every man walks about like a shadow; surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches and does not know who will gather them." (Psalm 39:4-6)
"The weed of crime bears bitter fruit...crime does not pay. Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of man...the SHADOW KNOWS." (Lamont Cranston...aka The Shadow)
The Shadow can cloud the minds of men and make them think they can't see them as he fights crime...BUT in reality...the shadows are fleeting, weak, and ineffective. As powerful as we think we are...when we come face to face with reality...we are like vapors...dissipating in the air when sunshine penetrates. Vapors are also fleeting, weak, and ineffective.
"Come now, you who say...Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, by and sell and make a profit...whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears fro a little time and then vanish away. Instead, you out to say, if the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that. But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. Therefore...to him who know to do good and does not do it...to him it is sin." (James 4:13-17)
In our fleeting, weak, ineffective, frail, evil arrogant boasting...we must come to this position about life..."My hope is in You." (Psalm 39:7)
As we plod along on this terrestrial ball...3rd rock from the Sun...planet Earth...I join the Psalmist...
"Hear my prayer, O Lord...and give ear to my cry; do not be silent at my tears...for I am a STRANGER with You...a SOJOURNER...as all my fathers were." (Psalm 39:12)
I don't want to be on God's bad side...with his gaze (that breaks apart shadows and vapors).
"Remove Your gaze from me...that I may regain strength...before I go away and am no more."
(Psalm 39:13)

PSALM 38:13-14 PROPER RESPONSE
Greetings Responders
"But I, like a deaf man, do not hear; and I am like a mute who does not open his mouth. Thus I am like a man who does not hear, and in whose mouth is no response." (Psalm 38:13-14)
My "natural response"...when people are talking about me...or putting me down...or who speak bad thing to or about me...is to OPEN MY MOUTH...and give them a piece of my MIND. What I am THINKING is expressed in what I am SAYING.
The Psalmist is singing about a time when he is being chastened by the Lord...and the response of his loved ones, friends, relatives, those seeking his destruction, those seeking his hurt... and response to his chastening. To me it sounds much like Job (not jAHb...but jOb).
"My loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague, and my relatives stand afar off. Those also who seek my life lay snares for me; those who seek my hurt speak of destruction, and plan deception all the day long." (Psalm 38:11-12)
There are always those...who are on the outside looking in...not going through what you are going through...shaking their heads and clucking their tongues...and wondering why you can't be like them.
Now the ball is in the Psalmist's court...your court...my court...and we can either HEAR what they say...and OPEN our mouths to respond...OR...we can (1) not hear (or refuse to listen) and
(2) not open our mouth (respond with excuses, reasons, etc).
The only way that you can do this...is based on where you hope is...in the talkers...or the Lord.
"FOR IN YOU...O LORD...I HOPE; Yo will hear, O Lord my God. For I said...Hear me, lest they rejoice over me. Lest, when my foot slips, they exalt themselves against me."
(Psalm 38:15-16)
The Psalmist does not deny his need for chastening...but does NOT respond to the chiding from others.

PSALM 37:4 DELIGHTED DESIRES (DO DA VERBS)
Delighted Greetings to you
"DELIGHT yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the DESIRES of your heart."
(Psalm 37:4)
I really like this Psalm. Out of the 150 Psalms...this is in the top 10 for me. I only put Psalm 37:4 as the focus of this post...but really it is the collective wisdom from this Psalm that does it for me.
The subtitle is "DO DA VERBS". What can we DO when it looks like the bad guys are getting away with murder while we get hammered if we do something right? (Psalm 37:1-2)
What can we DO until the evildoers and wrongdoers of iniquity are cut down like the grass and wither like the green herb? (Psalm 37:1-2) Are we helpless and can't DO anything?
As I read Psalm 37...I began to see the VERBS...that we can DO...as we walk by FAITH and not by SIGHT. What we see is evildoers and wrongdoers of iniquity. What we do is act based on faith.
NOTE: Take some time and circle the verbs...and then DO DA VERBS.
Here are a list of some of the VERBS...and the CAUSE and EFFECT of DOING DA VERBS:
1. Fret not
2. Do not be envious
3. Trust in the Lord
4. Do good
5. Dwell in the land
6. Feed on His faithfulness (cultivate faithfulness)
7. Delight yourself in the Lord. CAUSE AND EFFECT: He will give you the desires of your
heart.
NOTE: Delight: awnag (aw-nag)=to be soft and pliable, effeminate and luxurious; delicate.
True delighting yourself IN THE LORD...is being pliable and soft to Him.
The cause and effect of you delighting yourself in the Lord...is that he will GIVE (plant within you those desires) and BRING TO PASS those planted desires.
NOTE TO THE NOTE: Instead of become hard and demanding your way to have the evildoers and wrongdoers busted...you yield your will to the Lord's will...and the Lord's timing. This will nip your frustration in the bud as you realize that He is in control and NOT the evil and wrong doers.
8. Commit your way to the Lord
9. Trust also in Him CAUSE AND EFFECT: He will bring it to pass. He shall bring forth
your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.
10. Rest in the Lord
11. Wait patiently for Him
12. Do not fret
13. Cease from anger
14. Forsake wrath
15. Do not fret (spoken multiple times) CAUSE AND EFFECT : It only causes harm.
16. Depart from evil
17. Do good
18. Speak Wisdom
19. Talk of Justice
20. Wait on the Lord
21. Keep the Lord's way
So here you have things that you can do...DO DA VERBS. The Psalm ends with the bottom line.
"But the salvation of the righteous is FROM THE LORD; He is their STRENGTH in time of trouble. And the Lord shall HELP them and DELIVER them; He shall DELIVER them from the wicked, and SAVE them...BECAUSE...THEY TRUST IN HIM." (Psalm 37:39-40)

PSALM 36:5-10 STEADFAST LOVE
Greetings...
"Your mercy, O Lord is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; O Lord, You preserve man and beast. How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house and You give them drink from the river of you pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light. Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You. And Your righteousness to the upright in heart." (Psalm 36:5-10)
One of my favorite albums is by a troupe of people from Freeville New York...called THE LOVE INN COMMUNITY. This was a group of people led by a former New York disk jockey (Scott Ross) and a former member of Ronnie and the Ronnettes (Nedra Ross). For full details of this story read the book SCOTT FREE).
The album included Nedra, Phil Keaggy, Phil Maderia, Lynn Nichols and other members of this Christian community. The driving force behind this album is Ted Sandquist who was the Psalmist of the bunch...writing songs like Lion of Judah, Courts of the King, All That I Can Do and the song based on Psalm 36 called STEADFAST LOVE.
Psalm 36 is started off as "an oracle within my heart". Man's wickedness is contrasted with God's perfections.
TRANSGRESSION OF THE WICKED
1. There is no fear of God before his eyes. (quoted by Paul in Romans 3:18)
2. He flatters himself in his own eyes when he finds out his iniquity and when he hates.
3. The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit.
4. He has ceased to be wise.
5. He has ceased to do good.
6. He devises wickedness on his bed.
7. He sets himself in a way that is not good.
8. He does not abhor/reject/loathe evil.
The contrast to the wicked is God...and is wrapped up in one word...LOVINGKINDNESS.
This word comes from the Hebrew word..."chesed" which is also translated STEADFAST LOVE...MERCY...GOODNESS...UNFAILING LOVE and is equivalent to the New Testament Word GRACE.
GOD'S PERFECTIONS
1. Mercy
2. Faithfulness
3. Rightouesness
4. Judgments
5. Preserves
6. Lovingkindness/Steadfast Love
7. Precious
8. Under the shadow of His wings
9. Fullness of His house
10. Drinks from the river of His pleasure
11. The fountain of life
12. In His lighe we see light.
If you get a chance...find a copy of YOUR STEADFAST LOVE
Your steadfast love..extends to the heavens
Your faithfulness...reaches to the clouds
Your righteousness is like majestic mountains
And Your wisdom is like the depths of the sea
And You Come to Me
Filling my heart is Your lovingkindness
I find my peace....in the shadow of Your wings
I eat my fill from abundance in your household
And I drink from Your streams of rejoicing
And you come to me

PSALM 35:27 SERVANT PLEASURE AND PROSPERITY
Greetings...
"Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause, and let them say continually, let the Lord be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant."
(Psalm 35:27)
Prosperity is a bone of contention with in Christianity. On one side...you have those who say the are "King's Kids"...and deserve the very, very best of everything. They relate their prosperity on the "level of their faith." On the other end of the spectrum are those who believe that your spirituality is based on the level of your poverty...and anyone who has anything is not going to make it into heaven...because after all...they have that camel through the needle of an eye thing that keeps the rich out. In the middle...there are those who love the concept of communal living where everyone throws everything into one pot...and all share.
NOTE: This last one is based on what happened in Jerusalem when the Holy Spirit fell...and the church exploded with thousands in the city needing food and lodging. My thought is that the Acts account was an observation...not a mandate.
NOTE: Here is a note on prosperity from The Spirit Filled Bible: "Prosperity: God is pleased when His servants prosper! The Hebrew word, translated here as "prosperity" is laden with meaning: safety, wellness, happiness, healthiness, peacefulness. in fact, this word usually is translated peace: when your needs are met, you are at peace. Moreover, if God is pleased with the prosperity of servants, what must He be with the prosperity of His own children--those who are purchased by the blood of Jesus and adopted as His own. Think how thrilled God must be when we--His own children--prosper in every aspect of our lives." (Thanx and a Tip O Da Hat to The Spirit Filled Bible notes)
Success and Prosperity is not a foreign concept to God's people. "This book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night...so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it...for then you will make your way PROSPEROUS and then you shall have GOOD SUCCESS." (Joshua 1:8) NOTE: This thing called prosperity and success is linked to our continual relationship to the Word of God.
To me...PROSPERITY is enough to meet your needs with an overflow to meet the needs of others. When you read Philippians 4:1-19 you see that our God will meet our NEEDS (not our greeds) according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Prior to that verse...we see the secret is being CONTENT when you have a lot...and when you have nothing.
To me...SUCCESS is accomplishing the purposes of God in your life...whatever that entails.
Here is what people should say about us..."Let the Lord be magnified, Who has PLEASURE in the PROSPERITY of His servant." (Psalm 35:27)

PSALM 34:1,8 OCCULAR TASTEBUDS (How The Mouth Affects How You See)
Greetings...
"I will BLESS the Lord at all times His PRAISE shall continually be in my MOUTH."
(Psalm 34:1)
"Oh, TASTE and SEE that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who TRUSTS in Him!"
(Psalm 34:8)
TASTE: ta'am (tah-ahm)= to taste, eat, discern, perceive; to evaluate. This verb refers to the testing of good by means of the sense of taste. From the primary sense of physical tasting, ta'am developed into the idea of evauative sampling of things other than food. Ta'am as a noun came to refer to "discernment", that is, the capacity to choose and delight in good things...." (Word Wealth from the Spirit Filled Bible)
If I have a bad taste in my mouth...I will (1) spit out what is bad (2) put something in my mouth that tastes good. Sometimes...I will avoid eating or drinking something...because I am convinced that it will taste bad. It could be because of what others have said about it...or a previous experience that left a bad taste in my mouth.
One thing I do know...if I mix something bad with something good...the bad will turn the good bad. In James he speaks of the influence of out TONGUES and the output of the mouth.
"But no man can tame the TONGUE...it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it (the tongue) we BLESS our God and Father, and with it (the tongue) we CURSE MEN, who have been made in the likeness of God. Out of the SAME MOUTH proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren (and sistern) these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth FRESH WATER and BITTER from the same opening? Can a fig tre, my brethren bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus NO SPRING yields both SALT WATER and FRESH."
(James 3:8-12)
We are called to OCCULAR TASTEBUDS where the act of tasting (blessing, praising, and trusting the Lord) will affect how we see (discern, evaluate, perceive) things in our lives.
When I first met my lovely wife Brenda...we went to Sir Pizza and ordered a large 1/2 hamburger and 1/2 mushroom pizza. I HATED mushrooms...even though I had never, ever, in my entire life...ever ate a mushroom. My mom and dad did not like them...and that was good enough for me....until love took over...and Brenda convinced me to eat a slice of her side of the pizza. Not only was I in love with Brenda (still in love after 39 years of marriage)...but I began a love affair with mushrooms...because my eyes were opened to the goodness of the mushroom.
I TASTED and I SAW that the mushroom was GOOD. So it is with the Lord. As I TASTE by putting in good stuff (blessing, praise, trust) in my mouth...I SEE that the Lord IS GOOD.
Happy Eating

PSALM 33:1-5 NEW AND SKILLED LOUDNESS (More Than Just Noise)
Greetings Praisers...
"Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful. Praise the Lord with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings. Sing to Him a NEW SONG; play skillfully with a loud noise/a shout of joy. For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth, He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord." (Psalm 33:1-5)
"Turn down that amplifier...it is to loud." (Lonnie Boyd...my Dad) Well...he was probably right...because the noise...that was coming out of my amplifier did not reflect (1) skill (2) joy (3) praise to the Lord. And to think I made that noise with only 6 strings...and not an instrument of TEN STRINGS.
This world is filled with sounds...some of it beautiful...some of it nothing but noise. Some of it is quiet and gentle...while some of it is loud and raucous. The noise that the Psalmists is writing about is:
1. In the Lord
2. Done by the righteous (not by the self-righteous)
3. From the upright (not the bent ones)
4. Is beautiful
5. Done on the harp
6. Made melody to Him
7. Done on an instrument of ten strings
8. A new song sung (new=a fresh thing
9. Played skillfully with a loud noise/shout of joy
(a) Play=beat a tune with fingers especially on stringed instrument
(b) Skillfully=make well
(c) Loud noise=clamour, acclamation of joy, battle cry, alarum/alarm, joy, jubilation, loud
NOTE: This is more than just making obnoxious noise to glorify ourselves....it is to the Lord and to others to rally as we go into war. It is more than...look how good I play.
Why? Because....
1. By the word of the Lord...the heavens were made
2. All the host of them were made by the breath of His mouth (God said...)
3. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a vessel
4. He lays up the deep in storehouses.
This is just a thumbnail of the reasons...(see all of Psalm 33 for the rest).
Well...there ya go...it ain't about the volume or the decible level so that your ears can bleed...it is about the focus of our volume...the Lord.

PSALM 32:1-5 THE FORMULA FOR LIFE: V=P-O
Greetings Vital People...
"Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute/charge his account with iniquity--and in whose spirit there is no deceit. When I kept silent, my bones grew old through my groaning all the day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my VITALITY was turned into the drought of summer. Selah (think about it). I acknowledged my sin to You , and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord, and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah (think about it)."
Psalm 32:1-5
This Psalm is a companion Psalm to Psalm 51...both Psalms of REPENTANCE and return to VITALITY. The "man after God's own heart"...the "giant killer"...the "Shepherd King"...the "Psalm Praiser"...the "adulterer"...the "deceiver"...the "murderer"...DAVID...was also known as "The Repenter".
The cause and effect of his sins...was decreased VITALITY when he kept it within himself. "My vitality was turned into the drought of summer." (Psalm 32:5)
Many years ago...I sat under the teaching of a biochemist who was also a Christian...who shared with us "THE FORMULA FOR LIFE". This was: V=P-O...VITALITY EQUALS POTENTIAL MINUS OBSTRUCTIONS. The idea was that what we eat...produce obstructions in our blood/body...and keeps us from reaching our full potential and vitality.
David's vitality was drained by keeping quiet about his obstructions...thus keeping him from reaching his potential. My potential...is blocked by obstructions in my life...draining my vitality. For David...and myself...my SPIRITUAL VITALITY...is OBSTRUCTED by my SINS... thus preventing from reaching my full SPIRITUAL POTENTIAL.
The question arises..."How did David return to his vitality." Well...that is what Psalm 32 (and later on down the Psalm road we will see in Psalm 51) how he did it.
David's obstructions were (1) transgression (2) sin (3) iniquity (4) deceit. David knew that BLESSING (returned vitality) wild come when the (1) transgression was forgiven (2) sin was covered (3) iniquity not charged to his account (4) no deceit in his spirit (little s).
This could not take place unless David did something. David...REPENTED. He had a change of heart, change of mind, change of attitude and a change of direction...that was manifested in his actions.
1. I ACKNOWLEDGED my sin to You
2. My iniquity I have NOT HIDDEN
3. I will CONFESS my transgressions to the Lord.
4. You FORGAVE the iniquity of my sin.
All of this represents an non-deceitful spirit.
THE FORMULA FOR SPIRITUAL LIFE: Spiritual Vitality equals Potential of all that God has for you to accomplish minus Obstructive Unconfessed Sins in your life.
Selah (think about it).

PSALM 31:3-5 COMMITMENT ISSUES
Greetings and Salutations Oh Ye Committed Ones...
"For you are my rock and my fortress THEREFORE, for Your name's sake, LEAD me and GUIDE me. Pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me. For You are my strength. Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth."
(Psalm 31:3-5)
When God is your ROCK (a solid place to stand) and your FORTRESS (a place of protection) you can trust Him to LEAD you and GUIDE you...as the net has been laid for you. When the Lord is your ROCK and your FORTRESS and your LEADER and your GUIDE you can go beyond COMMITMENT ISSUES...and commit your spirit (who you are) because you know THE REDEEMER...the LORD GOD OF TRUTH.
Jesus knew the Father this way. So much so...that as He was dying on the cross in our place... as the Provided Lamb...as the Propitiation...as the Satisfactory Substitute...He quoted the verse...Psalm31:5.
"Now it was about the sixth hour and there was DARKNESS over all the earth until the ninth hour. Then the sun was darkened and the veil of the temple was torn in two. And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said...."FATHER...INTO YOUR HANDS...I COMMIT MY SPIRIT. Having said this, He breathed His last." (Luke 23:44-46)
Well...how does all of this apply to MY commitment issues? So many times...when it is dark all around me...where there appears there is no help...where the sand is shifting under my feet, and my fortress is more like a fox hole...I need to follow Jesus and die to my self...and COMMIT my spirit into the Father's hands. For Jesus to have resurrection...Jesus had to have death...and the death was a choice of commitment. It was at the point of where Jesus breath His last breath...that the Father could breath into Him fresh breath of life.
So it is with me as I commit my spirit to Him...breath my last breath (my efforts to solve my problems)...and I die to myself...so He can breath resurrection life into me. That's when I start to feel the ROCK under my feet and sense the protecting FORTRESS surrounding me....BUT... I have got to do it by the substance of things hoped for...the evidence of things not revealed by my senses...aka FAITH.

PSALM 30:5, 11-12 THE DANCE OF JOY (From Mourning to Morning)
Greetings Dancers...
"For His anger is but for a moment...His favor is for life; WEEPING may endure for a night...but JOY comes in the MORNING." (Psalm 30:5)
"You have turned for me my MOURNING into DANCING; You have put off my sackcloth (the sackcloth of my MOURNING) and clothed me with GLADNESS To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever." (Psalm 30:11-12)
As I have alluded to in previous Psalms...back in the day...we would sing the Word. These two passages were two separate songs that we use to sing quiet often.
Weeping and mourning are emotions that we have to encounter throughout our journey. When the Lord is angry (pre-conversion and/or post conversion)...it feels like an eternity when you are in the middle of it. But compared to the favor that we experience...when we repent, have a change of heart, mind, attitude, direction...it is but momentary. We are translated from that place of MOURNING...SACKCLOTH...ASHES...into a new dawning of MORNING...and we begin to DANCE with JOY and GLADNESS.
I guess the problem comes in my life...when I languish in the MOURNING SACKCLOTH...and never enter into the DANCE. He has invited me to be His dance partner...but for whatever reason...I choose to stay against the wall like a wallflower and not reach out and take His hand. I choose MOURNING versus GLADNESS...SADNESS versus JOY.
NOTE: Back in the day...the only dance that we could really do...was a thing called The Holy Ghost Shuffle. It was like an alternating kicking of the legs while coordinated with the lifting and lowering of the hands...or that's the way it seemed. Now...at the church where I go (Springhouse Worship and Arts Center...we have a dance team called PRAISE IN MOTION...an anointed troupe of dancers led by the Dancing Queen, Claudia Peterson). I love to see those who just show up on the floor and attempt to follow the moves.
QUESTION: If someone who leads us in song/Psalms are called Psalmists...would those who lead us in the dance be called Danceists?
They are very choreographed but still flowing in the Spirit. Even some of the men break lose in the dance led by Pastor Ronnie Meek. Of course...the Lord does not limit the dance to The Holy Ghost Shuffle or choreographed perfection...but allows you to just CUT LOOSE and dance unto Him to the point of embarassement....not embarrasing to the Lord...but maybe to others as they tell you to calm down.
I like the way that this Psalm ends...with a CHOICE. "O Lord my God, I WILL give thanks to you forever." (Psalm 30:12)
Listen...He's speaking to you now..."May I have this dance?"

PSALM 29:3-9 FROM SILENCE TO VOICE
Greetings
"The VOICE of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; the Lord is over many waters. The VOICE of the Lord is powerful; the VOICE of the Lord is full of majesty. The VOICE of the Lord breaks the cedars, Yes, the Lord splinters the cedars of Lebanon. He makes them also skip like a calf, Lebanon and Sirion like a young wild ox. The VOICE of the Lord divides/stirs up/hews out the flames of fire. The VOICE of the Lord makes the deer give birth, and strips the forest bare and in His temple everyone SAYS Glory!" (Psalm 29:3-9)
The last post in The Psalm Book...the Psalmist was asking the Lord..."O Lord, my Rock: Do not be SILENT to me, Lest, if You are SILENT to me...I become like those who go down to the pit. Hear the VOICE of my supplications when I cry to You." (Psalm 28:1-2) Now...the Psalmist declares the power of the Lord's VOICE...that has come out of the SILENCE.
There is cause and effect to when the Lord speaks...when He utilizes His VOICE:
1. Over the waters
2. Thunders
3. Powerful
4. Full of majesty
5. Breaks the cedars
6. Splinters the cedars of Lebanon
7. Makes them (cedars of Lebanon) skip like a calf
8. Makes Lebanon and Sirion skip like a young wild ox
9. Divides/stirs up/hews out the flames of fire
10. Shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh
11. Makes the deer give birth
12. Strips the forests bare
Now that is one powerful VOICE. But with all of those powerful things that the Lord's VOICE causes...there is one thing that is more important than all of those put together.
"And...in His temple...everyone...SAYS...GLORY!" (Psalm 29:9)
So...if you have been praying...and it seems as if the Lord is SILENT...fear not...I think I hear Him warming up His VOICE to speak (instead of me, me, me...it would be Him, Him, Him). Be sure to wear your earplugs...cause when He SPEAKS....He really SPEAKS.

PSALM 28:1-2 SILENCE AIN'T ALWAYS GOLDEN
Greetings those with a prayer on your lips...
"To You will I cry, O Lord my Rock: Do not be SILENT to me...lest, if You are SILENT to me...I become like those who go down to the pit. HEAR the voice of my supplications when I CRY to You When I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary." (Psalm 28:1-2)
The Psalmist is requesting an answer from the Lord...not stone, cold, silence. Sometimes it does feel that way when I pray. It is like you are firing off prayers and they appear to be deflected back at ceiling level.
When we pray...why would we pray...if we thought (1) There is no God (2) There is a God but He can't hear us (3) There is a God but He is like a Greek/Roman god who is fickle (4) There is a God but He hates us (5) There is a God but He is weak and cannot answer our prayers
(6) There is a God...but...(fill in the blank).
No...we approach God with an expectancy of Him hearing...and Him answering back. As of this writing...I am about to teach a class at my church called CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD (Communicating With The Creator). In it we see that prayer is not a monologue where we just talk and talk and talk to God only. He SPEAKS back to us. I like Francis Shaffer's book entitled...GOD IS NOT SILENT...WE ARE NOT LISTENING.
"Blessed be the Lord...because He HAS HEARD the voice of my supplication." (Psalm 28:6)
When we PRAY...we must pray in FAITH.
Many times between:
THE POINT OF PRAYER<............>THE POINT OF PROVISION there is this little thing called....SILENCE.
This is the time time where we WALK BY FAITH AND NOT BY SIGHT. (II Corinthians 5:7)
When Jesus was giving the boys (disciples) a lesson in prayer when they saw fig tree that He had spoken to ...had died...He told them...HAVE FAITH IN GOD...CONSTANTLY.
(Mark 11:22)
He then laid out...how that should be manifested in prayer.
"For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain BE REMOVED and BE CAST INTO THE SEA (the prayer)...and (1) does not doubt in his heart BUT (2) believes that those things which he says (prays)...WILL BE (future event) DONE...he will HAVE (answered prayer)...WHATEVER HE SAYS (prays)." (Mark 11:23)
Jesus then says THEREFORE. Remember...that the word THEREFORE is for you to see WHAT IT IS THERE FOR...and refers back to what was just spoken.
"Therefore...I say to you...WHATEVER things you ASK when you PRAY...BELIEVE that you RECEIVE them...and you will HAVE THEM." (Mark 11:24)
Jesus then caps this teaching on prayer off with the need for us to FORGIVE.
"And WHENEVER you stand PRAYING...if you have ANYTHING...against ANYONE...FORGIVE him...that your Father in heaven may also FORGIVE YOU your trespasses. But if you do NOT FORGIVE...neither will your Father in heaven FORGIVE you your trespasses." (Mark 11:25-26)
Well...that just scratches the surface of prayer...but...when you pray...pray in faith...and get ready to hear God speak OUT OF THE SILENCE.

(Mark 11:23)

PSALM 27:1 WHAT...ME FEAR?
Greetings inhabitants in the land of the living...
"The Lord is my light and my salvation; WHOM SHALL I FEAR? The Lord is the strength of my life; of WHOM SHALL I BE AFRAID?" (Psalm 27:1)
"Chuck Norris does not check his closet at night for the bogey man...the bogey man checks his closet at night for Chuck Norris." (Chuck Norris Facts)
In this dark, dying, cursed, fallen world that we live in...sometimes...it gets scary...especially in the dark. I remember when I was a child...I had watched some kind of scary movie...and from where my bed was positioned...I could look down the hall into the living room...and it looked like someone was sitting in a chair...not moving...just sitting there. Well I finally fell asleep and when I woke up IN THE LIGHT...I could see that there was a coat with a hat sitting on the chair. In the SHADOWS OF THE NIGHT...I was gripped by fear...but in the LIGHT OF DAY... the fear vanished.
I am reminded of Smith Wigglesworth...who was asleep one night and he was awaken by the presence of someone at the end of his bed. According to the story...Wigglesworth lit a candle and saw it was satan/devil at the end of his bed. His reaction was.."Oh...it's you."...and he blew out the candle and went back to sleep. As Smith Wigglesworth was walking by FAITH and not by SIGHT...and he had the Lord as his (1) light (2) salvation (3) strength of his life...he did NOT have to fear THE enemy (little e) who was satan (little s) or aka the devil (little d).
A cursory glance for the phrase FEAR NOT in the New Testament shows 62 times the phrase is said. It is applied to appearance of angels...in the midst of sickness and healing... in the face of enemies when the boat is rocking because of storms...and various appearances of Jesus...etc.
David...The Psalmist...states why he could FEAR NOT in the face of enemies.
"I would have LOST HEART, unless I had BELIEVED...that I WOULD SEE (future tense) the GOODNESS OF GOD IN THE LAND OF THE LIVING." (Psalm 27:13)
It appears that this lack of fear...is hinged not on his abilities...but on (1) light (2) salvation
(3) strength...all hinged on THE LORD. As you read through Psalm 27 you see David had a desire to dwell in the house of the Lord, behold His beauty, inquire in his temple.
David knew that in the TIME OF TROUBLE (when most of us fear)...that the Lord would hide him in His house...His pavilion...in the SECRET PLACE OF HIS TABERNACLE. He would be hid and SET UPON A ROCK.
What is the SECRET OF THE STRENGTHENED HEART?
1. Wait in faith on the Lord
2. Be of good courage
"Wait (in faith) on the Lord...be of good courage (verses bad discouragement)..and HE (not you or anything or anyone else) shall STRENGTHEN your heart...Wait, I say ON THE LORD."
(Psalm 27:14 with a little commentary by me).

PSALM 26:2 THIS IS A TEST...IT IS ONLY A TEST
Greetings friends, neighbors, countrymen...lend me your spiritual ears...
"Examine me, O Lord...and prove/test me; try my mind and my heart." (Psalm 26:2)
(Long piercing, shrill sound): This is a test...it is only a test. This is a test of the Emergency Broadcasting System (EBS). In the case of a real emergency you will be directed to turn your radio to a specific channel.
This above test is always an interruption...when you least expect it....interrupting whatever you are watching or listening to on the television or radio. I was listening to an Old Time Radio show the other day...and it was a show called Suspense...and the suspense was building up to the point of what I had been listening for...(long piercing, shrill sound...this is a test...it is only a test...yada yada, bla bla, whooop whoop). By the time it was over...the show was over. Boy... talk about SUSPENSE.
I hate tests. I hate preparing for a test. I hate taking the test. I hate waiting for my test to be graded. I hate receiving back the test results...unless they turn out to be good...then I am elated.
"Every Scripture is God-breathed--given by His inspiration--and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, and for training in righteousness [that is, in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action.], so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well-fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work." (II Timothy 3:16-17)
It is wise to do self examinations for yourself...for breast lumps, testicular lumps, spiritual self introspection, physical capabilities.
"Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless indeed you are disqualified. But I trust that you will know that we are not disqualified." (II Corinthians 13:5-6)
"You have tested my heart; you have visited me in the night; You have tried/tested/examined me and have found nothing." (Psalm 17:3)
"Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." (Psalm 139:23-24)
"I will bring the one-third through the fire, will refine them as silver is refined, and test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name and I will answer them. And I will say, this is My people; and each one will say, the Lord is my God." (Zechariah 13:9)
"But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiners fire and like launderers/fullers soap. He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, and purge/refine them as gold and silver, that they may offer to the Lord an offering in righteousness." (Malachi 3:3)
Well...the bottom line is this...you will be tested one way or another...so...you might as well...go ahead and exam yourself...and then say Lord...TEST ME...EXAMINE ME. He will at some point anyway.
We will now return you to your regular programming.

PSALM 25:1-2 SHAME AND TRIUMPH
Greetings
"Unto Thee O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in Thee, let me not be ashamed; let not mine enemies triumph over me." (Psalm 25:1-2)
Once again we have a plea for deliverance and forgiveness...a common theme throughout the Psalms. Once again...we have a Psalm that we use to sing back in the days of the Jesus Movement.
Unto thee O Lord...do I lift up my soul
Unto thee O Lord...do I lift up my soul
O My God...I trust in thee
Let me not be ashamed...let not mine enemies triumph over me
NOTE: One group would sing the first part and then the other group would echo what was sung. Then the next verse would take another line from the Psalm
Show me Your ways...your ways O Lord
Show me Your ways...your ways O Lord
O My God...I trust in thee
Let me not be ashamed...let not mine enemies triumph over me
NOTE: Continue with adding lines always ending with O My God...I trust in thee...Let me not be ashamed...let not mine enemies triumph over me. Good times. For full effect...if you see me...ask me to sing it for you.
As I was reading this Psalm...I saw the letter S pop out at me.
Vs. 5 "Lead me in your truth and teach me. For You are the God of my SALVATION.
Vs. 7 "Do not remember the SINS of my youth nor my transgressions. According to your
mercy remember me for Your goodness sake, O Lord.
Vs. 8 "Good and upright is the Lord; therefore He teaches SINNERS in the way."
Vs. 14 "The SECRET of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will SHOW them His
covenant."
Vs. 18 "Look on my affliction and my pain, and forgive all my SINS."
Vs. 20 "Keep my SOUL, and deliver me; Let me knot be ashamed; for I put my trust in Thee."
The SECRET that He SHOWS the SINNERS because of their SINS...is the SALVATION of their SOULS...ultimately revealed in our SAVIOUR.
"This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you that God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST HIS SON...cleanses us from all SIN." (I John 1:5-7)
NOTE: Well...this is Psalm 25...only 125 more to go. I am curious if anyone is reading this blog. If you are reading this...please let me know by writing me at ruminator12@comcast.net and let me know. I hope you are being blessed, challenged, encouraged to press in to the Lord in the face of whatever you are going through...and PRAISING the Lord.

PSALM 24:7 CALL AND RESPONSE
Greeting door knockers...
"Lift u your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the king of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory." (Psalm 24:7-10)
NOTE: "Some scholars consider this Psalm to be a joining of two smaller poems; 1-6 and 7-10. The first on is similar to Psalm 15. These were probably written when the ark was brought to Jerusalem by David." (The Spirit Filled Life Study Bible note)
Here is the question asked. "Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy Place?" The answer is:
1. He who has clean hands
2. He who has a pure heart
3. He who has not lifted up his soul to an idol
4. He who has not sworn deceitfully
The cause and effect of you being able to ascend and stand is: (1) Blessing (2) righteousness and it is reserved for those who SEEK HIM...SEEK HIS FACE.
Well...I guess at this point that leaves me out...until you factor in The Propitiation...The Substitute...The Satisfaction (I John 2:1-2)
As the congregation waits inside...The KING wants entry. The doorkeeper...must have a PASSWORD.
QUESTION (Call): Who is the King of Glory
ANSWER (Response): The Lord strong and mighty...The Lord might in battle...the Lord of hosts...The King of Glory.
I don't know about you...but if I was the doorkeeper...I would be opening me up some doors. I find it interesting that the KING...did not just ram on in...but followed procedure to get in. Isn't that just like our Lord...as He stands at the door of our hearts...knocking...just waiting for us to open up.
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." (Revelation 3:20)
(1) Knock Knock
(2) Who's there?
(3) Jesus
(4) Jesus who?
(5) Jesus of Nazareth who God anointed with the Holy Ghost and with power and who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil (little) for God was with me. (Acts 10:38)
(6) Enter My Lord.

PSALM 23:1-6 The SheepShank Redemption
Greetings Sheep Saints...
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. he makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me. Thy rod and Your staff they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." (Psalm 23:1-6)
NOTE: Recommended Ruminator Reading...A SHEPHERD LOOKS AT PSALM 23 by Phillip Keller.
In this crazy world of wolves and sheep...we need a Shepherd. There are many benefits being in The Shepherd's flock:
1. No want
2. Rest in green pasture
3. Still waters
4. Restoration of soul (mind, will, emotions, the seat of who we are)
5. No fear of evil
6. Comfort
7. Prepared tables in presence of enemies
8. Anointed head
9. Running over cup
10.Goodness and mercy following for a lifetime
11. Permanent residence in the house of the Lord
All of this good stuff...hinges on THE LORD being my SHEPHERD...not anyone or anything else. If I am fooled by a wolf in shepherd clothing...the wolf is my shepherd...then take the 11 benefits and write the exact opposite...and then put me on the table for dinner cause da wolf is hungry.
Three things:
1. Since my name is Rodney...I am always excited...to find out I have a group of people working for me..."Thy ROD and Thy STAFF comfort me." Good job staff. My friend Williams Visher told me that he can identify with me...since he is..."The WILL of God."
2. I would be amiss if I did not mention my two traveling companions following me (1) Shirley
and (2) Goodness
3. As you walk THROUGH the valley of the shadow of death...KEEP ON WALKING...because you will eventually come out the other side. Do not set up residence in the Valley.

PSALM 22:1-4 Suffering Messiah
Hello those who feel forsaken...
"My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping Me, and from the words of my groaning. O My God, I cry in the daytime but You do not hear; and in the night season and am not silent. But You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel. Our fathers trusted in You; They trusted, and You delivered them." (Psalm 22:1-4)
I know that at times...I do not sense, feel, see God anywhere in the middle of my troubles. I feel forsaken. But my forsaken...is nothing like Jesus endured on the cross...as He was crucified in my place...died, and rose again. (D.B.R.)
The Fat Part of the Book (Old Testament) is continually pointing to Jesus...who is continually pointing to the Father. Genesis 3:15 starts the Messianic references...and continues on.

PSALM 21: 1, 13 JOY POWER: STRENGTH and SALVATION
Good morning weaklings...need some strength?
"The king shall have JOY in Your STRENGTH, O Lord; and in Your SALVATION shall he REJOICE!...Be exalted, O Lord, in Your own STRENGTH...we will sing and praise Your POWER. (Psalm 21:1, 13)
I don't know about you...but the majority of the time...I do not feel up to the task. I know all to well my weakness. Oh I may be able to put up a brave facade...but chip away and you will find me trembling with fear for being found out what I can't do. I like that song by Twila Paris... The Warrior Is A Child. "You don't know...."
I am trying to learn...as the Psalmist sings about...that my strength, salvation and power can ONLY come from HIS strength. I can only have JOY and SALVATION...in the Lord.
In our WEAKNESS...we are out of control. We have no power to fix whatever needs to be fixed, including our problems, other people's problems, world problems, economic problems, religious problems...we are OUT OF CONTROL...and that is a GOOD PLACE to be. If we are OUT OF CONTROL...that means that He CAN BE IN CONTROL.
"Concerning this thing (a thorn in the flesh...a messenger of satan to buffet Paul, lest I be exalted above measure)...My GRACE (free gift, favor, divine influence in the heart manifested in the life) is sufficient for you...for MY STRENGTH...is made perfect in WEAKNESS..."
(II Corinthians 12:9)
NOTE: This does not mean to roll over and just accept anything that happens to you...but it does mean to stand in the GRACE of God...against satan and his messengers...with expectation for perfection and power to come into our lives.
"Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears...let the WEAK say I AM STRONG."
NOTE: Of course this is not pulling up your bootstraps and gutting it out. It is calling things that are not...as though they were...and speaking out words of faith.
"...for the JOY of the Lord is your STRENGTH." (Nehemiah 8:10)
NOTE: There is a little chorus that we would sing in Vacation Bible School (V.B.S.) and in the 70's at church meetings...The Joy Of The Lord Is My Strength. It was a nice little ditty...that stated..."If you want joy you can clap for it." Throughout the song you can substitute the word clap with sing, jump, praise, etc. for IT (the joy of the Lord). This song was taken from the phrase found in Nehemiah. Of course...the context is that Nehemiah, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites TAUGHT the people...and they HEARD THE WORDS OF THE LAW. The JOY OF THE LORD...comes from understanding the WORD OF GOD. Of course you can sing, jump, praise, etc...when you hear the Word of God...but the JOY that will be your STRENGTH is not something you can work up on your own...it is hinged to the WORD OF GOD.
Well...when you are WEAK...Sing and praise the Lord for His power, strength, grace, mercy, provision...and you will see HIS STRENGTH...in your weakness.

PSALM 20:7 NAME POWER
Greetings Trusters in the day of Trouble
"Some TRUST in chariots, and some (trust) in horses...but we will remember (trust) the NAME of the Lord our God." (Psalm 20:7)
This Psalm starts off with..."May the Lord answer you in the DAY OF TROUBLE. May the NAME of the God of Jacob defend you." (Psalm 20:1)
Trouble will come. It will come when you least expect it. Anyone can TRUST when there is NO TROUBLE. Trusting God in the midst of the trouble separates the wishers verses the trusters.
The Psalmsist had an assurance of God's saving work. Some think that this Psalm was used as a "congregational prayer used with sacrifices offered just before going to war." (Spirit Filled Life Study Bible note)
In this Psalm...there is a comparision of the TRUSTERS and the NON-TRUSTERS in the DAY OF TROUBLE.
NON-TRUSTERS
1. chariots
2. horses
NON-TRUSTERS OUTCOMES
1. bowed down
2. fallen
TRUSTERS
1. The Name Of The Lord our God
NOTE: The trusters in the day of trouble, trust seems to be hinged on THE NAME OF THE LORD.
TRUSTER'S EXPECTATIONS in the NAME OF THE LORD
1. Answer from the Lord
2. Defense from the Lord
3. Help from the sanctuary
4. Strength out of Zion
5. Remembrance and acceptance of sacrifices
6. Desires of your heart
7. Fulfilled purposes
8. Rejoicing in our salvation
9. Banners set up
10.Fulfilled petitions
11. Salvation
12.Answers from holy heaven
13.Saving strength of His right hand
14.Saving
15. Answers from the King when we call
I don't know about you...but I want to be in the trusters column...more benefits in the Day Of Trouble....so I can have a Day of Deliverance.

PSALM 19:1-14 REVELATION UNITED
Greetings Psalm Lovers...
"The heavens declare the glory of God...the Law of the Lord is perfect..." (Psalm 19:1,7)
God is a revealer of mysteries. Some of the revelation is subtle...some not so subtle...but His heartbeat for mankind is revelation. In Psalm 19 we see two of the ways that God reveals Himself. The heading in my Bible for this Psalm is "The Perfect Revelation of the Lord" To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. So this is a musical revelation of the Lord.
Back in the 70's--we would sing the Scriptures. One of my favorites is found in Psalm 19:7-11. At my church where I attend...we sing a song based on this also...adding in verse 14.
REVELATION #1 (Creation)
1. The heavens declare the glory of God
2. The firmament shows His handiwork
3. Day unto day utters speech
4. And night unto night reveals knowledge
5. There is no speech nor language where their (day and night) voice is not heard
6. Their (day and night) has gone out through all the earth
7. Their (day and night) words to the end of the world.
8. In them (day and night) he has set a tabernacle/tent for the sun which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber (I love this picture)
9. And rejoices like a strong man to run its race
10. And its circuit to the other end. (the course of earth around sun...ie. sunrise/sunset)
11. There is nothing hidden from it's (the sun) heat
NOTE: All of this speaks of the total revelation of the Lord where every eye can see the Lord in His creation. Paul underscores this thought...and removes all excuses not to believe.
"For the wrath of God is REVEALED from HEAVEN against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be KNOWN of God is MANIFEST/EVIDENT in them, for God has SHOWN IT TO THEM. For since the CREATION OF THE WORLD His invisible attributes are CLEARLY SEEN, being understood by the thing the things THAT ARE MADE, even His ETERNAL POWER and GODHEAD/DIVINE NATURE...so that they are without excuse, because although they KNEW Him as God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their THOUGHTS, and their foolish HEARTS were darkened." (Romans 1:18-21)
NOTE: God REVEALS...man denies. The denial is in their actions as they act as if they don't know Him. The profess to be wise...they became FOOLS. They exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God...into an image made like corruptible man (images of man, birds, four footed animals and creeping things). (Romans 1:22-23)
NOTE: God does not FORCE anyone to acknowledge or worship Him. He won't violate you choice of free will. Oh...he will lean heavily on you...to let you know and give you every opportunity to acknowledge and worship Him...but the final choice is yours. See Romans 1:24-32 for the cause and effect of our free will/choices.
REVELATION #2 (The Word)
The law, testimony, statutes, commandment, fear of the Lord, judgements of the Lord, the words of the mouth and meditations of the heart (speaking and meditating on the Word)...are all images of the reality. Words...the written or verbal expression is a mirror into the heart. So it is with the Creator of the universe...this written word is a REVELATION of His heartbeat, thoughts, intentions...and the cause and effect is good.
1. Law of the Lord=perfect--converting the soul
2. Testimony of the Lord=pure--making wise the simple
3. Statutes of the Lord=right--rejoicing the heart
4. Commandments of the Lord=pure--enlightening the eyes
5. Fear of the Lord=clean--enduring forever
6. Judgements of the Lord=true/righteous altogether
The DESIRE FACTOR for this Word of God is:
1. More to be desired than gold...much fine gold
2. Sweeter than honey and the honeycomb
3. Keeping them the servant is warned
4. Keeping them is great reward
As we keep His Word in our lives we ask the Lord to cleanse us from SECRET FAULTS that only the Lord can know and the His Word reveals. (Hebrews 4:12) We ask the Lord to keep back PRESUMPTUOUS SINS...and not let them (faults and presumptuous sins) to have DOMINION over us...so that we can be blameless and innocent of great/much transgression.
The bottom line prayer....
1. Let the words of my mouth (as you speak His Word)
2. And the meditation of my hearth (as you ruminate, think about His Word)
3. Be acceptable in Your sight
He is...(1) Lord (2) strength (3) Redeemer.
FINAL THOUGHTS...FINALLY
Wow...what a great Psalm.

PSALM 18:1-3 REASON FOR PRAISE
Greetings O Ye Praisers!
"I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord...who is WORTHY TO BE PRAISED; so shall I be saved from my enemies." (Psalm 18:1-3)
The heading of this Psalm reads: "To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David, the servant of the Lord, who spoke to the Lord the words of this song on the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul...and he said:"
This leads into..."I will love You, Oh Lord...." According to my footnotes in my Spirit Filled Life Bible..."This Psalm is a repeat of the song recorded in II Samuel 22 and is the longest Psalm in Book One."
There are many reasons to praise the Lord listed in Psalm 18:1-50...but the core of the WHY is found in verse 3..."...the Lord who is WORTHY TO BE PRAISED."
He is not JUST...WORTHY because of what He DOES for us...He is WORTHY...just because HE IS WORTHY. It is not what He does...but Who He is.
In the 70's we use to sing Scripture. One of these songs that we sung vertically to the Lord (before vertical worship came into being vogue)...was Revelation 4:11.
"Thou art WORTHY, O Lord...to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all tings and by Your will they exist and were created." (Revelation 4:11)
We see later on in chapter 5..."You are WORTHY to take the scroll, and to open its seals, FOR (reason He was worthy)...You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth."
(Revelation 5:9-10)
And yet again..."WORTHY is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea and all that are in them I heard saying...Blessing and honor and glory and power be to HIM who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever." (Revelation 5:12-13)
Well...there ya go. If you need a reason to praise Him...don't wait for deliverance from your enemies before you start. Start NOW...in the middle of the nitty gritty. Why? Because HE IS WORTHY!!!!

PSALM 17:6-7 RING...RING...IT'S FOR YOU.
Hello friends...
"I have CALLED upon You, for you will HEAR me, O God. Incline Your EAR to me, and HEAR my SPEECH." (Psalm 17:6)
Once again the Psalmist is in the prayer mode. He is using his vocal system to CALL God...with great confidence that God will HEAR him. Years ago...my wife Brenda's grandmother passed away. We went to the funeral home...and we were checking out the lovely flowers that people send as a show of sorrow and affection for the family. Well...we came upon a horseshoe wreath of flowers with a pink, plastic, toy phone attached and a banner with the words...JESUS CALLED. Well...ya had to laugh. Someone was serious. Of course...so began the jokes. "Hmmmm...I hope when he CALLS me...it is not a wrong number." "If he calls from Tennessee it will be a local call...but from heaven...long distance." "The number you have reached has been disconnected." "Boy...talk about reaching out and touching someone."
NOTE: Someone once said that God's phone number is Jeremiah 33:3 "CALL to Me...and I will ANSWER you, and SHOW you great and mighty things which you do not know."
Now that I've got all of those jokes out of the way...God does have a communication system between us and Him. It's called PRAYER. It most definitely can be used like a 911 emergency CALL...but it can also be used to keep in contact and just CALL to talk to Him.
We use to sing the song...JESUS ON THE MAIN LINE.
Jesus on the main line...tell Him what you want
Jesus on the main line...tell Him what you want
Jesus on the main line...tell Him what you want
Jesus on the main line now.
If you want salvation...tell Him what you want.
NOTE: The song continued with various prayer requests....ie. healing, deliverance, peace, etc.
So...next time you are surrounded by enemies...or lonely, or depressed, or happy, or just needed to talk to God...CALL HIM UP. He has His Ear INCLINED to you...and will HEAR your SPEECH...and He just might SPEAK back to you. Oh yeah...be sure to have your Bible close by...because He might want you to see a transcription of your sonic conversation with Him.

PSALM 16:2 THE and MY LORD
Greetings lovers of the Lord.
"I have said to THE Lord...Thou are MY Lord; I have no good besides Thee." (Psalm 16:2)
I love this declaration by the Psalmist. He recognizes how big and far reaching the Lord is...but takes on a personal, individual mindset of this vast God.
(1) THE Lord= yeh-ov-ah...the self existent or eternal Jehovah, the Jewish national name of God, Jehovah the Lord.
(2) MY Lord= ad-o-noy...the Lord (used as a proper name of God only) MY Lord. The root of this word means sovereign, controller, master, owner.
Of course when the Psalmist says MY Lord...he is not speaking of the Lord being his personal property like...my house, my dog, my shoes, my (fill in the blank)...BUT he is speaking of THE Lord as the one who is his owner, master, controller (one in control), sovereign one.
This NATIONAL Lord could easily invade us individual and make us HIS property...but He allows us the choice of being MY Lord. He becomes MY Lord, when I YIELD...MY will to His will...and obey Him.
A cursory look at Psalm 16 shows the benefits of making the Lord MY Lord:
1. preservation
2. refuge
3. non-multiplied sorrows
4. boundaries/lines falling in pleasant places
5. a beautiful heritage
6. counsel
7. will not be shaken
8. glad heart
9. my flesh dwelling securely
10. soul not abandoned to Sheol/the nether world
11. fullness of joy
12. pleasures forever
Hmmmm....sounds like the cause and effect of THE Lord being MY Lord is great.
At some point...every knee shall bow...and every tongue shall confess that JESUS IS LORD (Philippians 2:9-11)

PSALM 15:1-5 Citizen: Not Shaken...or Stirred
Greetings Citizens...of heaven that is.
"O Lord, who may abide/sojourn in thy tent? Who may dwell on Thy holy hill? He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness, and speaks truth in his heart. He does not slander with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor. Nor takes up a reproach against his friend; Nor takes up a reproach against his friend; In whose eyes a reprobate is despised, but who honors those who fear the Lord; He swears to his own hurt, and does not change; He does not put out his money at interest, nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things WILL NEVER BE SHAKEN." (Psalm 15:1-5)
In my Bible...the heading of this Psalm is: Description of a Citizen of Zion...A Psalm of David.
There are two questions about this citizenship: (1) Who may abide/dwell/sojourn in Thy tent?
(2) Who may dwell on Thy holy hill?
The cause and effect of the actions of doing the things that a citizen of Zion does is..."he who does these things...WILL NEVER BE SHAKEN."
Here is the checklist for citizenship:
1. Walk with integrity
2. Works righteousness
3. Speaks truth in his heart
4. Does not slander with his tongue
5. Does not do evil to his neighbor
6. In his eyes despises reprobate
7. Honors those who fear the Lord
8. Swears to his own hurt
9. Does not change
10.Does not put out his money at interest
11. Does not take a bribe against the innocent
Well that is quiet a checklist no isn't it? Good targets, goals, aspirations to be having...BUT I need HELP...or more than that...I need a HELPER to do these things. Holy Ghost...come help yourself...as I do these things.
