PSALM 41:2,5,11 ENEMY MODUS OPERANDI

Greetings...

"...You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies...my enemies speak evil of me...because my enemy does not triumph over me." (Psalm 41:2,5,11)

Well...we are at the end of the 1st book of the Sepher Tehillim...Psalmoi...Psalterion (a poem that is to be accompanied by a stringed instrument). There are 5 sections (5 books within the book OF 150 songs). Psalm 41 concludes Book 1 with a song of blessing and suffering of the godly. David laments about his sin (maybe with Bathsheba)...his health as a result of the sin...
the surrounding enemy in his weakened condition...and the declaration of God dealing with the enemy.

"We have met the enemy...and he is us." (Walt Kelly...from the cartoon Pogo)

ENEMY MODUS OPERANDI (M.O.)

1. Speaks evil of you
2. Speaks lies
3. His heart gathers iniquity to itself (about you)
4. He tells it when he goes out
5. Hates you
6. Whispers together against you
7. He devises your hurt
8. Says and evil disease clings to you (as a result of your sin)
9. Will say when you lay down you will not rise up
10.Even familiar, trusted friends who ate with you...will lift up their heel against you

Of course the Psalmist is praying for blessing...which would have God deal with his ENEMIES.

Before God can deal with your enemies...we have to deal with the ENEMY WITHIN...by turning to God for mercy...and acknowledgment of who you have sinned against. "I said, Lord, be merciful to me, heal my soul, for I HAVE SINNED AGAINST YOU." (Psalm 41:4; Psalm 32;
Psalm 51)

The Psalm ends...and the 1st book/section of The Psalms ends with a closing doxology...

"Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen."
(Psalm 41:13)

AMEN= true and faithful...truly...so be it.
